A SHORT HISTORY

The association “Orthodox Philanthropy Alba Iulia” – Reghin branch, started its activity at the same with the official opening of Asezamantul Social “Casa Maria II” – on July 6th 2003.

In the area where today our activities unfold, was situated the first confessional Romanian school in the city of Reghin, founded by Theodor Serban in 1835.

This establishment of culture and spirituality secured the further education of the Romanian language, which became a government school from 1919 to 1931, when a new school was built, name Gimnaziul de Stat “Virgil Onitiu”.

On May 15, 1999 this school was demolished because of degradation, but not to disappear, but forever be and orphanage.

Over a period of three years, during the construction of this orphanage, the expenses were taken care of by Parohia Ortodoxă “ Sfânta Treime ”, and donations form generous people which helped give the building the same design as the first school.
